- For a flight outside the European Union between 1,500 and 3,500 km: you may be entitled to €200 for a delay of less than 2 hours or €400 for a delay of 3 hours or more.
- For a flight outside the European Union of more than 3,500 km: you may be entitled to €300 for a delay of less than 2 hours or €600 for a delay of more than 4 hours.
Which flights are covered by EC Regulation 261?
The EC Regulation 261 aims to compensate passengers affected by a delay, cancellation, or overbooking of their flight.
There are two situations where EC Regulation 261 automatically applies, allowing you to claim compensation.
- Travellers whose arrival airport is located in the European Union can claim compensation in the event of a delay or cancellation, regardless of the airline's nationality or destination.
- Travellers coming from a non-EU country, but whose final destination and airline are located in the European Union.
What happens in the event of an airport strike?
If you were unable to board due to an airline staff strike, you may be entitled to compensation. However, EC Regulation 261 does not provide compensation for airport staff strikes.
Can you be compensated for an Air Tahiti Nui flight delay?
