Ibiza Airport
Ibiza Airport serves both the islands of Ibiza and Formentera in the Balearic Islands. 95% of people arriving at or departing from these two islands pass through this airport.
Ibiza is a very popular tourist destination. The airport's traffic varies greatly depending on the season. However, it also offers inter-island connections and flights to the mainland.

Ibiza Airport and European regulations
The Balearic Islands, like the Canary Islands, are an autonomous community. They are part of Spain and European law fully applies there.
At the European level, civil aviation is governed by Regulation (EC) No 261/2004. This regulation covers:
- all flights departing from the European Community area (including Switzerland, Norway, and Iceland);
- flights to this community area operated by an airline based there.
If your flight departs from Ibiza, you are covered, regardless of your destination. Five British airlines serve Ibiza. EasyJet flights departing from the European Union are fully subject to Regulation (EC) No 261/2004. Others are subject to UK law.
Since Brexit, the United Kingdom is no longer covered by Regulation (EC) No 261/2004. However, it has incorporated most of its measures into its own law with UK261 regulation.
In other words, regardless of the airline bringing you to Ibiza and its country of origin, you have roughly the same rights.
Your rights at Ibiza Airport
European and British regulations provide rights. These are guaranteed to you at Ibiza Airport.
If you have a boarding pass and valid documents, regardless of the airline, it must take you to your destination. In the event of a delay on its part, cancellation or denied boarding, it must offer you an alternative flight.
Moreover, in the event of a significant delay, you are entitled to material assistance. If you need to have a meal on site or stay overnight in a hotel, these costs will be borne by the airline.
In the event of cancellation, overbooking, or a delay of more than 5 hours, you can request a refund of your full ticket refund. However, this refund means forfeiting your trip. Similarly, you forfeit any assistance and claims.
Finally, if your flight is delayed, cancelled, or if you are denied boarding due to overbooking, you may be eligible, under certain conditions, for a fixed compensation. The amount varies from €125 to €600 depending on the circumstances.
