Airline Air Corsica
Air Corsica is a French regional airline based in Ajaccio, Corsica. It primarily operates routes to mainland France (Paris, Lyon, Toulouse, etc.). However, it also serves European destinations (Rome, Vienna, Porto, etc.) and one North African city: Marrakech.
Unlike other airlines, the application of European regulations is almost systematic.

How to get a flight refund from Air Corsica?
With Air Corsica, by default, your ticket is notrefundable. However, within the same class, the airline offers three fare options:
- Light option, changeable with a penalty and non-refundable
- Standard option, changeable for free and refundable with a penalty
- Top option, changeable and refundable for free
If you have chosen a fare with a refund option, it will be possible, either partially or fully. Unlike other airlines, the most advantageous option is not much more expensive than the base fare.
This is Air Corsica's refund policy. It applies if you decide to cancel your flight.
However, in certain cases, you can request a refund following an incident caused by the airline. This applies if you experience a delay, a cancellation or a denied boarding due to overbooking.
In the event of a delay, you can request a refund if it exceeds 5 hours. If your flight is cancelled or overbooked, you can also obtain a full refund, provided you completely abandon your travel plans. Additionally, the airline has no further obligations towards you.
What are your options in case of flight disruption with Air Corsica?
If your flight with Air Corsica experiences disruptions, the European regulation (EC) No. 261/2004 provides several measures to protect passengers.
Unless you receive a refund, the airline must take care of you until you reach your destination. This care includes:
- Re-routing in case of cancellation or overbooking
- Provision of drinks and meals if you need an extra meal at the airport
- Accommodation if you need to stay overnight
- Covering your phone calls (you are entitled to two calls)
The amount of compensation allowed
In cases of delay, flight cancellation, or denied boarding due to overbooking, Regulation (EC) No. 261/2004 also provides compensation based on the following flat rates:
- €250 for flights under 1500 km with a delay of 2 hours or more
- €400 for non-EU flights between 1500 and 3500 km or EU flights over 1500 km with a delay of 3 hours or more
- €600 for non-EU flights over 3500 km with a delay of 4 hours or more
Which flights are covered by Regulation (EC) No. 261/2004?
This regulation applies to certain flights. It covers:
- Any flight departing from an airport within the European Community (including Norway, Switzerland, and Iceland)
- Any flight to the European Community operated by an airline based in this community (including Norway, Switzerland, and Iceland)
In the case of Air Corsica, it is an airline based in the European Union. Corsica being a region of mainland France, the applicable law is the same as on the continent.
Air Corsica is therefore a European airline. And since Marrakech is the only third-party destination it serves, all its flights are subject to Regulation (EC) No. 261/2004.
There are some restrictions on compensation:
- If the airline informed you of the disruption at least 15 days before your departure
- If the airline manages to have you depart and arrive at the same times
- In the event of extraordinary circumstances that the airline could not foresee (strike, proven risk, bad weather)

What to do in case of an Air Corsica airline strike?
A strike is considered an “extraordinary circumstance”, something the airline cannot foresee.
However, this does not refer to a strike within the airline itself.
Indeed, in the event of a strike by baggage handlers or air traffic controllers, Air Corsica is not responsible.
But if its own staff is on strike, it is indeed responsible and must compensate you.
Air Corsica: compensation for a flight delay
In the case of a flight delay, if Air Corsica is responsible, you are entitled to compensation on a flat-rate basis ranging from €250 to €600.
You are entitled to this compensation provided your delay reaches certain thresholds. A minimum of two hours is required (more for flights over 1500 km).
Air Corsica: are you entitled to compensation for a flight cancellation?
A cancelled flight means that Air Corsica has simply removed your flight.
Unless exceptions apply, you are entitled to compensation. However, if the delay remains below a certain threshold, the compensation will be reduced:
- From €250 to €125 for flights under 1500 km with less than 2 hours delay
- From €400 to €200 for non-EU flights between 1500 and 3500 km or EU flights over 1500 km with less than 3 hours delay
- From €600 to €300 for non-EU flights over 3500 km with less than 4 hours delay
Air Corsica: is it possible to be compensated for flight overbooking?
If Air Corsica denies you boarding due to overbooking, the compensation scheme is the same, with the same reduction as for flight cancellations.
The airline is responsible, so the compensation is due, no matter what.
What to do in case of flight disruptions with Air Corsica?
There are many possible issues. It could be a delay or a cancellation. Generally, Air Corsica will inform you on the day, via email. In the worst-case scenario, you will see it on the airport displays.
In the case of overbooking, unfortunately, you will only find out at the time of boarding when you are denied entry.
Whatever the situation, Air Corsica remains your main point of contact. They are obliged to take care of you until you reach your destination.
You can ask them for:
- Information on the reason for the delay
- Request for re-routing
- Request for coverage of your expenses (meals and accommodation)
- Request for a claim (cancellation and refund, or a simple goodwill gesture)
- Information on the coverage of your phone calls.
You may not get all the answers immediately. Keep records of all incurred expenses to claim a refund. Finally, note the scheduled and actual arrival times to request compensation.
