How to get a refund for a flight with Blue Air?

You may need to change or cancel your flight ticket for personal reasons. The law does not regulate refund conditions when the airline is not at fault. You should refer to the airline's fare conditions. Blue Air allows you to make changes to your ticket up to 4 hours before departure. Be aware that changes and refunds may depend on your ticket and booking fare. For more information on getting a refund, contact Blue Air's customer service.

Your rights in case of flight disruption with Blue Air

Air travel can experience disruptions that affect your journey. This could be a delay, cancellation, or overbooking. If these occur during your journey, you may be entitled to compensation as outlined by EC Regulation 261.

Amount of compensation allowed

If your flight is delayed, cancelled, or overbooked, you may receive compensation from the airline. The amount of your compensation depends on the distance of the journey and the duration of the delay.

Below are the compensation amounts you may be entitled to:

  • For a flight of 1,500 km or less: you may be entitled to €125 for a delay of less than 2 hours or €250 for a delay of 2 hours or more.
  • For an intra-European Union flight over 1,500 km: you may be entitled to €200 for a delay of less than 2 hours or €400 for a delay of 3 hours or more.
  • For a flight outside the European Union between 1,500 and 3,500 km: you may be entitled to €200 for a delay of less than 2 hours or €400 for a delay of 3 hours or more.
  • For a flight outside the European Union over 3,500 km: you may be entitled to €300 for a delay of less than 2 hours or €600 for a delay of more than 4 hours.

Which flights are covered by the European regulation

The EC Regulation 261 was established by the European Union to protect and compensate passengers affected by a delay, cancellation, or overbooking of their flight.

There are currently two situations where EC Regulation 261 automatically applies, allowing you to claim compensation

  • Passengers whose arrival airport is within the European Union can claim compensation for a delayed or cancelled flight, regardless of the airline's nationality or destination.
  • Passengers departing from a non-EU country but whose final destination and airline are within the European Union.

Strikes within Blue Air: what to do?

Strikes by airline staff allow you to claim compensation from the carrier. Note that EC Regulation 261 does not apply to airport staff strikes.

Can you claim compensation for a flight delay with Blue Air?

If your flight is delayed and affects your arrival or departure time, you may be entitled to compensation. However, to qualify for compensation, the delay must be more than 3 hours at an EU airport.

It should be noted that EC Regulation 261 applies only to flights where the delay is due to specific conditions, (a technical fault or operational issue for which the airline is responsible). Extraordinary circumstances do not entitle you to compensation.

Can you claim compensation for a cancelled flight with Blue Air?

If your flight is cancelled, you may be entitled to financial compensation from the airline. This applies if the cancellation occurs less than 14 days before departure. The law considers that passengers did not have enough time to find an alternative solution.

If your flight is cancelled, the airline must offer you an alternative flight or provide a full refund of your ticket. If you take the alternative flight, your compensation is calculated based on the flight distance and the estimated delay at arrival. The compensation amount can be up to €600

Cases of overbooking with Blue Air

Overbooking or overselling is when the airline sells more tickets than available seats on the flight. This situation entitles you to compensation.

Note, to claim compensation, you must not be among the volunteers who agree not to board.

  • The compensation amount depends on the journey's distance. For a flight up to 1,500 km, you may be entitled to a maximum of €250.
  • For a flight between 1,500 and 3,500 km, you may be entitled to a maximum compensation of €400.
  • For an EU flight over 3,500 km, the maximum compensation is €400, and €600 for a journey between the EU and a non-EU country.
