The amount of compensation

  •  For a non-European Union flight of 1,500 to 3,500 km: you may be entitled to €200 for a delay of less than 2 hours or €400 for a delay of 3 hours or more.
  •  For a non-European Union flight of more than 3,500 km: you may be entitled to €300 for a delay of less than 2 hours or €600 for a delay of more than 4 hours.

Which flights are covered by Regulation 261/2004? 

The EC 261 regulation established by the European Union aims to protect and compensate passengers whose flights are disrupted. 

This disruption can be a cancellation, delay, or overbooking. There are two types of situations where the regulation automatically applies.

  • Travellers whose arrival airport is within the European Union can claim compensation for a delayed or cancelled flight, regardless of the airline's nationality or the destination country.
  •  Travellers from a non-European Union country, but whose final destination and airline are within the European Union.

Strike at Paris-Orly Airport

The EC 261 regulation states that if disruptions occur during a flight, passengers can submit a compensation claim to the airline. Strikes by airline staff entitle you to compensation. Note, however, that strikes by airport staff do not entitle you to financial compensation.
