- For a flight of 1,500 km or less: you may be entitled to €125 for a delay of less than 2 hours or €250 for a delay of 2 hours or more.
- For an intra-European Union flight of more than 1,500 km: you may be entitled to €200 for a delay of less than 2 hours or €400 for a delay of 3 hours or more.
- For a flight outside the European Union of 1,500 to 3,500 km: you may be entitled to €200 for a delay of less than 2 hours or €400 for a delay of 3 hours or more.
- For a flight outside the European Union of more than 3,500 km: you may be entitled to €300 for a delay of less than 2 hours or €600 for a delay of more than 4 hours.
Which types of flights are covered by European law?
To enable passengers of cancelled, delayed, or overbooked flights to receive compensation, the European Union has implemented Regulation EC 261. This regulation legally and strictly defines the conditions under which a passenger can claim compensation following a disruption.
- Passengers whose arrival airport is located in the European Union can claim compensation in the event of a delay or cancellation of a flight, regardless of the airline's nationality or destination.
- Passengers departing from a non-EU country but whose final destination and airline are located in the European Union.
Strikes within Aegean Airlines: what are your rights?
Strikes are situations that can directly impact your flight. Please note that only strikes by the airline's staff entitle you to possible compensation. Regulation EC 261 only covers strikes by the airline and not those by airport staff.
Compensation for a flight delay with Aegean Airlines

Claiming compensation for a cancelled flight with Aegean Airlines
Regulation EC 261 states that the cancellation of your flight must occur less than 14 days before departure. The legislation considers that passengers have not had sufficient time to find an alternative solution to their flight cancellation.
If your flight is cancelled, the airline must offer you an alternative flight or provide a full refund of your ticket. If you board the alternative flight, your fixed compensation is calculated based on the flight distance and the estimated delay upon arrival. The compensation amount can be up to €600.

- For an EU flight with a distance over 3,500 km, the maximum compensation is €400, and €600 for a journey between the EU and a non-EU country.
